We Make Stuff Good was an artist collective with an online community. Its  website needed to feature articles, artist/ campaign/ project related to the article, video campaigns & be able to take bookings.

The site’s purpose was also to be a useful point of reference for people exploring the emerging art culture in Melbourne.
Time was taken to design the site so that it would give credit back to its individual contributors to create a following of them.

The colourful header image of the site was regularly changed to feature artist’s work & feature events however the site was designed using a minimal colour scheme to feature the copy. Grey tones are used in the side bar & navigation to highlight feature content. The front page featured only newly published articles, allowing visitors tp keep up-to-date at a glance.

The site was built using a WordPress back-end content management system. This enabled authors to log in & create articles, editors to edit submitted articles, & articles to be published according to the style guide. Social media plug-ins to facebook & twitter, RSS feeds, & an extensive Search Engine Optimisation plug-ins were used to aggregate & promote articles & authors.

WMSG Blog Posts / Social Media Strategy

Multiple articles are published bi-weekly to maintain interest and integrity of the We Make Stuff Good reputation.

A team of authors created a diverse flow of posts to the site. The authors were chosen because of their self-motivation and interesting involvement and knowledge of underground arts culture. Articles were also delegated to authors. Once written the articles are then sent for submitting via the WordPress back end or email & placed for review by the editor & publisher. Articles contain written copy, videos, & images relating to the article.

Once published articles are then pushed through a 3rd party social media tool, taking the information to Facebook profiles & pages, Twitter & MySpace. Search Engine Optimisation is applied to each article to make it found through Google & Bing searches. The RSS feed further aggregates the articles to reach people via email & RSS readers.

We Make Stuff Good articles have been found referenced to other sites such as: australianedge.net, lifelounge.com, threethousand.com, & have aligned as media partners with ‘Semi Permanent Melbourne 2010’, ‘Sweet Streets 2010’, ‘Don’t Ban the Can ‘08 & ‘09’ & ‘Sketch City ‘08 & ‘09’.
